Cleaning
Weekly or fortnightly domestic cleaning
When you're busy it's often easier to simply outsource some of your to-do list!
This could be general cleaning but can also include laundry and changing the bedding - whatever the priorities are to make your life easier.
- For flats this is usually 2 to 2.5 hours, and for a house usually 3 hours. I recommend a longer clean fortnightly over a shorter weekly one as it gives me time to do a really thorough job.
- All cleaning supplies and materials are included (except for mop and hoover).
- I use eco products for almost everything and bring my own cloths so it's one less thing for you to do.
Deep Cleans & End-Of-Tenancy Cleans
When you need it really clean...
Deep cleans: Sometimes you just need a complete reset - it's often easier to do this on a room-by-room basis rather than attempting to tackle everything at once. If your home has got a bit out of control but you don't want to commit to hiring a regular cleaner, I'm always happy to come for a one-off visit or several visits over time, depending on your needs and budget. No judgement ever, I love my job and I'm happy to help.
End-Of-Tenancy Cleans: Moving house is incredibly stressful and time-consuming - and there's rarely time to clean the property to a high enough standard to get your full deposit back! I'd usually estimate 8-10 hours for a flat and more for a house, but I'd pop round for a look in person to give you a quote as it will vary depending on the condition and size of the property.
Decluttering
Space to breathe...
Feeling overwhelmed and don't know where to start? Let me sort it out for you and help make your home feel calm and enjoyable. It's much easier to keep up with life's endless stresses and demands when your home is organised to make everyday life as easy as possible. At its simplest, this begins with tidying, sorting and removal of rubbish, items for charity or resale etc.
At a deeper level, I have the ability to look at a chaotic room or cupboard of doom and mentally "Tetris" it. It's hard to describe but essentially it's a skill of 3D visualisation and one that I've found not everybody possesses. I can rearrange a room or cupboard layout to make it flow better and be more efficient storage-wise, enabling you to make the most of your space.
I start by listening closely to the client and asking questions to determine the issues, the desired outcome, and how you live and use the space. For example a single person will have different priorities to a busy family, or to downsizing retirees. Some people entertain a lot, some people prize cosiness and comfort, some are seeking minimalism and some want help in managing and displaying their cherished collections of ornaments or have hobbies that are taking over the house!
It's also important to note that there is never any judgement on my part, I love my job and take great satisfaction in helping people to move forwards.
Moving House
Do it the easy way...
Moving house is stressful and packing always takes a lot longer than you think it will - usually ending with just throwing stuff randomly into boxes in a hurry, knowing you'll still have to deal with it at the other end. I can help with packing, allowing you to sort more discerningly as you go and helping with rubbish, recycling and charity shop donations.
I can also help with unpacking at the other end, helping you get free of chaos and settled in to your new home as soon as possible.
eBaying & Reselling Assistance
Earn money from your unwanted items
We all have items cluttering up our homes that we no longer need but can't let go of yet as they still have second-hand value.
I've been selling on EBay since 2003 (and at one time ran a vintage clothing store on the platform) and still have 100% positive feedback. I can sell clothes, furniture and bric-a-brac for you on various platforms including eBay, Vinted and Facebook Marketplace.
In some cases I may be able to remove items to my office where I have everything set up for taking optimal photographs etc, thus freeing up the space for you immediately. I keep meticulous records of everything and will send you a receipt with the sold items listed.
Houseplant Care & Advice
A new addition to my services...
I have a lot of plants, and am continuously propagating new ones and swapping cuttings with friends. Although not a trained horticulturist, I've picked up quite a bit over the years when it comes to light requirements, watering frequency, substrate mixes and how to get rid of pests!
Recently I've found myself offering advice and assistance with houseplant care to several of my cleaning clients so I thought I'd offer these skills either as part of the broader domestic services such as cleaning and decluttering or as a standalone service.
At a glance, if your plants aren't thriving it's because:
- They're in the wrong place. Most leafy plants prefer bright indirect light whereas cacti and succulents love a bright windowsill.
- Over or under watering. This is easy to solve, honestly!
- Wrong type of soil, or needs repotting, either because the plant has become rootbound or the soil has not been changed for too long and has become impacted or lacking in nutrients.
- Pests. Always isolate a new plant to ensure it's not bringing pests with it. In my experience many high-street soil brands are completely infested - since switching to a specific independent brand, my plants are thriving and I've had minimal issues. If I do find fungus gnats or other unwanted insects, after much experimentation, I've found diatomaceous earth the best solution - it's non-toxic to people and pets too.
